Project Abstract:
The H.E.A.L. team consists of Madison Chen, Luming Wang, and Angela An. Our idea revolves around Hepatitis B, a liver disease that disproportionately affects the Asian community in comparison to other ethnic groups. Our goal is to use education to raise awareness for this disease which will hopefully translate to increased screening for the disease. We will organize a live symposium where Dr. Paul Pockros, Head of Hepatology at Scripps Clinic, will offer a talk regarding Hepatitis B. Specifically, we will emphasize the importance of getting screened for this viral infection. This event will take place on August 10th at 1:00 pm PDT. We hope to make a difference with this event and track our impact with a post-symposium survey.
