Project Abstract:
Mindful Moves 2.0 is a community-based chess education project as part of the 2026 ACA Internship. Building on last year’s ACA experience, our team aims to expand access to chess-related learning materials and create more interactive opportunities for children across San Diego. The project will donate chess storybooks, posters, and digital resources to community sites, while also leading short micro-sessions that introduce children to chess in an engaging and accessible way. Through storytelling, structured activities, and community play, Mindful Moves 2.0 hopes to support focus, self-regulation, honesty, fairness, and good sportsmanship. The team also plans to share educational videos online so families and children can continue learning beyond the in-person sessions. By combining chess, education, and community outreach, this project seeks to make chess a low-stress, meaningful activity for children from diverse backgrounds.
