(Alliance of the Chinese Americans, ACA)特别邀请了认证的Medicare专家Janet Li,为大家带来一场专业的医疗保险公益讲座。

她深入解释了Medi-Cal(加州健保或称白卡)和Medicare(联邦保险或称红蓝卡)的保障范围、申请流程,以及申请与使用时需要了解的注意事项。

In Chinese families, children's education is often regarded as a top priority. As a result, topics related to "children’s education" frequently dominate online forums, and many seminars focus on academic advancement. Additionally, it is common for three generations to work together to educate and raise children. However, children will eventually grow up, and parents and grandparents will also age, at which point healthcare needs will become increasingly important.

However, the U.S. healthcare insurance system, especially Medicare for seniors, is highly complex. Recognizing the community’s need for guidance in this area, the Alliance of the Chinese Americans (ACA) in San Diego specially invited Janet Li, a certified Medicare expert, to share her insights in a public seminar. In addition to being an experienced Medicare specialist, Janet cares for her parents and in-laws, giving her much expertise in senior healthcare insurance.

On February 22, 2025, ACA successfully hosted this informative seminar, which attracted more than eighty Chinese community members. The attendees included many elderly individuals who do not speak English, their caregivers, and community members who are approaching Medicare eligibility.

During the seminar, Janet detailed common insurance options for seniors and offered practical guidance on choosing the right plan. She thoroughly discussed Medi-Cal and Medicare coverage, explained the application process, and highlighted important considerations when applying for and using these benefits. Attendees found her presentation extremely helpful and informative.
Ms. Rui Z, who cares for her aging parents, shared that: “I learned so much today! Thanks to Janet for explaining such a complicated insurance system in such a clear and accessible way.”

Ms. Zoe Z commented, “Janet is very professional, thorough, and patient. We truly benefited from her expertise.”

In post-event surveys, many attendees expressed their hope that ACA would organize more similar seminars in the future. They were particularly interested in discussions on senior living options, such as in-home care versus assisted-living or nursing homes. Additionally, they hoped to receive more information about resources and activities available for seniors in San Diego.

The success of this seminar was a great encouragement for ACA. Moving forward, ACA remains committed to providing valuable information and support to the Chinese-speaking senior community.
