Request for Proposal: COVID-19 Projects for API Youth
ACA is no longer accepting proposals.
As of June 13, 2020, close to 30 applications have been received. The response to the call is overwhelming and has far exceeded our expectation and, as a result, the funding is nearly exhausted. A big THANK YOU to all the students who have submitted proposals, and also an apology to those whose applications will not be accepted or those whose projects are not funded.

Alliance of Chinese Americans San Diego (ACA) and Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs San Diego (APAPA) are calling on API high school and college students to serve the communities of San Diego County during COVID-19 pandemic.
The pandemic is challenging our society in an unprecedented way in nearly all aspects of our daily life – recreation, education, healthcare system, shopping, transportation, and many more. While most of us are doing our part to help “flatten the curve” by following 'stay-home' order by the state government, many of us are also eager to help the communities in our own ways.
To encourage API students to engage and serve our communities, ACA and APAPA are offering funding opportunities for COVID-19 related projects. Up to $1,000 is available to award each of the selected projects.
The emphasis of this RFP is to encourage students to come up with their own ideas. Adviser will be available to supervise each project throughout the course. Example areas of interest are given below, and are acceptable if you decide to choose one of them:
Impact research on ethnic groups
Document the local development of COVID-19
Document the relief effort, e.g. procurement of PPE, by local API community
Assist disadvantaged groups in navigating federal or state aid
Create informational, educational or entertaining material for social media
Innovative design or manufacturing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
