Background
When COVID-19 hit San Diego, much of the Chinese community organized a relief effort. Many volunteers and non-profit organizations organized fundraisers and made donations to hospitals. This extraordinary effort was highly praised by local hospitals and reported, but only to a limited extent.
Goal
Our goal in this project is to capture the relief effort in greater detail, in English, using writing as well as audio/video tools, including interviews, personal anecdotes, and stories in a cinematic documentary.
Method
We will research different San Diego Chinese charity organizations as well as different individuals and look for interesting or inspiring stories about someone's background that ties directly into this relief effort. After research, we will set up interviews with that person/organization and piece together a story about them as well as other Chinese Americans in the COVID-19 relief effort in our local community. Of course, what they have done will be documented and reported in the process.
