COVID-19 Chronicles
A Project Funded by Alliance of Chinese Americans San Diego
Sarah Dong
Background
Ever since COVID-19 has expanded throughout the United States, schools have closed, many restaurants have closed, and people's lives have overall been affected to some degree. It is also often broadcasted on the news and in newspapers that COVID-19 cases are rapidly increasing in the US without signs of stopping. Throughout this time, there have been many governmental announcements, whether they be national or state issued. For instance, California's shelter-in-place order was issued on March 19th, and recently on April 27th, San Diego's beaches were re-opened. Many of these governmental orders have affected the pandemic's situation and its curve, whether it be in a positive way or a negative way.

Goal
Document COVID-19 data and its development in San Diego. Visualize data to reflect impact of different factors, such as government regulations, age, gender, and ethnicity, on the development of COVID-19. Present their impacts to people in San Diego, so that more and more people realize how these factors are affecting their lives during this pandemic. This is not only for the current situation, but also for a reference for future times when people look back on the impacts these factors have made on the pandemic and people's lives - accumulate experience and learn how to better deal with situations like this in the future.

Method
1. Generate public website to hold graphs and diagrams for San Diego COVID-19 data
2. Use Data Visualization tools (like the Python computing language using Jupyter Notebook and R using R Studio) to create interactive graphs and diagrams that document San Diego's COVID-19 data (confirmed cases, recovered, and deaths)
3. Record factors such as large governmental regulations/orders, age, gender, ethnicity, and visualize their impacts on COVID-19 cases in San Diego on the graphs and diagrams
4. Launch website but continue to update frequently, as well as record large governmental orders throughout the entirety of the pandemic in the US
